Find a history of Firefox security vulnerabilities someplace and take note of how many times that feature has needed a security fix. I'm not sure what differences in setting I am using compared to you guys, but I only get nagged for my password one time per browser launch. Perhaps it's because I whitelisted their cookie, but I'm not certain.

What would be real nice would be for Xmarks to work something out with LastPass so that the password could be stored there.

Actually, you might dig the settings that I use. Disable "automatic synchronization" but keep "sync on shutdown" enabled. It won't prompt you at all for a password unless you add a bookmark. If you work on multiple computers, then just run a manual synchronization if you see that something is missing.

Not only is it nice to only get the prompt on shutdown so it's not in the middle of typing a post or an e-mail, but it's also nice to not get the prompt on every session.

20100215 - Updated: BetterPrivacy 1.47, CheckPlaces 2.0.1, Download Statusbar 0.9.6.7, Greasemonkey 0.8.20100211.5, Hostname In Titlebar 1.0.6, LastPass 1.66.0, Mozilla Archive Format 0.18.2, MP4 Downloader 1.2.10, NoScript 1.9.9.47, WiseStamp 1.3.5

I also downgraded Ubiquity to an early release so that it will be upgradeable at a later date. It is incompatible with Firefox 3.6, and I couldn't manage to shoehorn it into a state of stability. It's simply broken. We'll have to wait for Mozilla to upgrade it.

20100227 - Updated Fancy Numbered Tabs 1.4, Flagfox 4.0.2, NoScript 1.9.9.50; Removed Ubiquity.

It looks like there was also a silent update to LastPass. The version number is the same, but the archive has updated content.

20100308 - Updated Flash 10.1.51.95, Better Gmail 2 0.9.8.1, DownloadHelper 4.7.1, Xmarks 3.5.10 | Removed Check Places, Converter, Faviconize Tab, Link Extend | Changed the way Flash installs

Latest beta version of Flash that came out a couple days ago is pretty stable. So I went ahead and added it, mainly because it introduces GPU acceleration which will probably benefit a lot of users on legacy computers. In previous releases, I made the included Flash plugin only available to Firefox by shoehorning it into Firefox's global plugins folder. I'm no longer doing that now. From now on it will install similar to RogueSpear's releases of Firefox. My installation routine will silently execute the default Flash Player installer.

Added Jetpack to the Web Developer release. I silently added a couple others to it as well a while back. I'm not sure what was in it before, so I can't tell you what was added. But see the first post for a list of everything that's included in that release now.

I also added a "lightweight" release that doesn't have some of the bells and whistles. It still keeps StripMyRights and whatnot, but it doesn't have LastPass, ReadItLater, Greasemonkey, DownloadHelper, and a few others. I will be adding a "Power Users" release that contains some of the extensions that RogueSpear uses, like Converter, Check Places, Tab Progress Bar, Faviconize Tabs, and others. Feel free to make suggestions.

I like the "lightweight" edition. In fact, I use fewer addons than that typically, but I'll give it a try since I haven't heard of a few of them. I might be pleasantly surprised. :)

So the Power Users version is the "Kitchen Sink" version we talked about before?

dumpydooby, in your work on the Power Users version, could you consider adding a Session Manager Add-on, such as the one that can be found here - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2324? I'd appreciate it. Thanks for all your contributions.

I installed the "lightweight" version on my wife's laptop and she likes it!
The only problem I found was the 3.6.2 update wouldn't update properly without downloading the whole installer. Then it was fine.
Thanks DD.

It's because of StripMyRights. Not only does it want access to the Program Files directory, but it also wants to instantiate new instances of Firefox.exe. Sometimes even using AdminFox won't resolve it. Sometimes it will. It's a finicky bitch. I just told it to try again a few times and it eventually installed right. lol

Eventually one of us will build a better program than StripMyRights specifically designed to handle Firefox.

You're welcome, by the way. :)

My wife's notebook uses XP, and hasn't had any problems. :) She doesn't use Xmarks and is very happy with the results.
I just installed this on our Win7 Pro x64 main PC and I'm having loads of problems. They all seem to come from adminfox. The shortcut on the desktop will spawn an error "can't find firefox.exe...". Doubleclicking a .url link will have the same error. Doubleclicking adminfox.exe is the only way to successfully launch the browser. Once launched, right-clicking the firefox icon in the taskbar and selecting "Pin this program to taskbar" will leave you with an anchored icon that will only cause the above error.

Also, your option in about:config for "privacy.clearOnShutdown.passwords = true" is wreaking havoc with my xmarks synchronization! :(
Xmarks keeps trying to nuke my passwords on the server with every sync! NOT cool.

As much as I like your list of included extensions and tweaks, I'm seriously rethinking our home use of this.

Yeah, I was worried about x64 operating systems getting a little out of whack. It's because I have very little experience with them. I know they have two separate program files directories for 64 and 32 bit applications, but I don't know much beyond that. I don't know what the directory is that Firefox will be installed with this release, and I don't even know if a 32-bit AutoIt application has access to look in the 64-bit directory to verify its contents.

It sounds like the problem is actually because StripMyRights is being relocated to a non-system directory, or it's not installing at all. That could be because it's a 32-bit application. Again, I don't have enough experience with 64-bit platforms to say with certainty.

As for the clear passwords on shutdown, that's easily remedied.

Tools->Options->Privacy
Firefox will: -> "Use custom settings for history."
Settings->"Saved Passwords" (uncheck it)

Since I use LastPass, and my primary release has LastPass, I suppose I can go ahead and remove that setting.

Re: Mozilla Firefox V3.6.3 [20100403]

Updated Firefox 3.6.3, Better Gmail 2 1.1.1, Ctrl-Tab 0.21.1, DownloadHelper 4.7.2, Flagfox 4.0.3, Kempelton 3.2.1, NoScript 1.9.9.57, Screengrab 0.96.3 | Added BarTab 1.4.2

- I added a new extension called BarTab. It allows you unload a tab from memory without closing the tab entirely. After a session restore it can be set to, instead of loading every tab at once, load tabs as they become active. Idle tabs will automatically be unloaded after 20 minutes.

- My NoScript blacklist should now automatically be imported.

edit--
And for Facebook users that were experiencing trouble with NoScript, I did not implement a manual fix for this. It should be fixed in the next version of NoScript, which should be getting pushed through within the next few days.

I was running into a problem where Firefox would not download files from the testing area of Driverpacks but IE would. So I uninstalled your version of Firefox and installed the generic build from mozilla.com. Boy was that a mistake. The clean install of Firefox would not work at all. Your installer does not uninstall stripmyrights cleanly. It leaves the reg entry behind and I was scratching my head for about 5 min until I deleted the reg key. Then all was well.
I had installed your "lightweight" build in Win7 x64.
Firefox still won't download the files, but that's another issue.

I'm not allowed to modify the Mozilla uninstaller. I might be able to create a wrapper for it, similar to what I do with the installer itself, but actually creating an uninstaller for it forces me to use the unbranded version of Firefox.

I can't even say with confidence that what RogueSpear and I are already doing is within the terms of Mozilla's license agreement.

But I'll see what I can do. Maybe I'll just have StripMyRights install separately with a separate uninstaller, similar to Flash Player and whatnot.
